You are probably referring to "Maz ab!" (without the t). It used to be a popular TV show where people would guess certain things from watching TV snippets. At the beginning of the snippet, the moderator would say "Maz ab!". Maz is a short form for "Magnetaufzeichnung" (i.e. magnetic recording), so a rough translation would be "Start the recording!"Suggest edit
